Former ABC to TEC

Lord Carey’s call to the US Church

Lord Carey has urged the US Church to honor the Windsor Report, saying that if it continues to flout the common moral standards of the Church, the Anglican Communion would collapse.

“The Anglican Communion as such is in crisis,” the former Archbishop of Canterbury told the Houston Chronicle last week on a visit to Texas. The 2003 consecration of Gene Robinson as Bishop of New Hampshire has had an ongoing deleterious effect for all Anglicans.

“It has created enormous tidal waves, shock waves around the world,” he said, and has “hindered missions in Muslim countries. It has distressed conservative congregations everywhere. There is no place in the Anglican Communion that has been impervious to the shock waves.”

“What the American church has done” is to “turn its back on the voice, the moral voice of the Lambeth Conference. That’s the problem basically. There is no way out of the problem now.”

“If I were in [Rowan Williams’] shoes, what I would be wanting to do is say that the American House of Bishops must commit itself to the Windsor Covenant and be wholehearted about that,” Lord Carey said. “Around the Windsor Covenant we can actually find a way to deepen the dialogue and get people there.

As much as Lord Carey detailed out the effects of that folly, his whole description is still an understatement. Do we know the effect in terms of souls lost for eternity, because the one missionary or evangelist in the picture happened to be a member of an Anglican body? Add this to the danger to life, limb, and property to which so many thousands are exposed in countries which may not know the Savior, but know a lot more about right and wrong than these American Episcopalian “Christians”!

I wish the former and current ABCs would just call spades spades. Reminds me of Isaiah 5.20&21: Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!
Sounds like Jadis and the ‘Illuminati’ of TEC to me.
